Vidtreo

Introduction

Analyze every recording with reusable lenses — evidence-backed summaries, structured data points, and rubric scores, delivered to your systems by webhook.

VIDTREO Intelligence

VIDTREO Intelligence turns recordings into structured data you can act on. You describe once what matters — in a lens — and every video or audio recorded in your environments is analyzed automatically: a written summary, the data points you asked for, a score against your rubric, and the speakers, all tied to the exact moments of the recording that support them.

Results reach your systems through the intelligence.lens_analysis.completed webhook, together with the userMetadata you attached when recording, so they flow into your ATS, CRM, LMS, or helpdesk without a single API call.

Recording completes (video or audio)
    → Each lens active in the environment queues an analysis
    → Transcript and speakers (+ visual review when the lens checks the screen)
    → The lens is applied: summary, data points, scores — every claim cites its evidence
    → VIDTREO validates each citation and computes the scores
    → intelligence.lens_analysis.completed webhook fires with the full result

Key Concepts

ConceptWhat it is
LensA reusable analysis configuration: objective, summary sections, data points, scoring rubric, and rules. Belongs to your company. See Lenses
VersionEvery lens is versioned. Drafts are editable; published versions are immutable and are the only ones that analyze recordings
ActivationA lens turned on in an environment, pinned to one published version
Auto-analyzePer activation: when on (the default), every new recording completed in that environment is analyzed with the lens
Analysis (run)One lens applied to one recording. It has a status, a charge, and a result
EvidenceThe transcript segments (S4) and video frames (F3) that back each claim, with their exact time in the recording

What You Get

For each recording and each lens, the result contains:

  • Summary — an overall summary plus the sections you defined, as labeled points
  • Data points — typed values extracted from the recording (findings), each with a status: supported, insufficient evidence, or contradictory
  • Scorecard — a score per rubric criterion with written feedback, and a total computed by VIDTREO
  • Speakers — who speaks, their role, and their name when it can be established
  • Chapters — chronological navigation points with timestamps
  • Quality checks — counts of citations, invalid citations, unsupported items, and abstentions

The full structure is documented in the Result reference.

Evidence first, by design. The analysis may only use what is said and shown in the recording. Every point, value, and score must cite the moments that support it; VIDTREO checks each citation against the recording and drops claims that cannot be backed. When the recording does not contain the answer, the result says insufficient_evidence instead of guessing.

Enabling Intelligence

Intelligence is available to every VIDTREO account. Turning it on for an environment takes four steps in the dashboard:

Create a lens. In the VIDTREO Dashboard, open Intelligence in the sidebar and click + New lens. The Designer helps you build it: drop a sample recording (or choose Use one of my recordings), pick one of the lenses it proposes, and refine it — or choose Prefer to describe it yourself and explain what you need in plain words.

Publish it. Review the lens — goal, summary sections, data points, scoring, and rules — then click Publish and select the environments where it should run. You can also Save as draft and publish later from the lens page.

Activate it where it should run. If you did not choose environments when publishing, open the lens, go to the Where it runs tab, and click Activate in environment — or open Environments → your environment → Intelligence and click Activate next to the lens. Auto-analyze is on by default.

Subscribe your backend. In Environments → your environment → Webhook, click Create Endpoint, enter your https:// URL, and select the intelligence.lens_analysis.completed event type. Store the signing secret — it is shown only once.

From then on, every recording that completes in the environment is analyzed by each active lens with auto-analyze on, and each completed analysis is delivered to your endpoint.

Automatic analysis applies to recordings that complete after the lens is activated. Recordings that already existed are not analyzed retroactively — analyze them manually if you need them.

Integration at a Glance

For developers, a complete integration has two touch points: attach your identifiers when recording, and handle the webhook.

1. Attach your own identifiers to each recording with userMetadata:

<VidtreoRecorder
  apiKey="vt_live_xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx"
  userMetadata={{ candidateId: 'cand_8231', jobId: 'job_114' }}
/>

2. Receive the analysis — your identifiers come back in the same payload as the result:

app.post('/webhooks/vidtreo', express.raw({ type: 'application/json' }), async (req, res) => {
  // Verify X-Webhook-Signature over the raw body first (see Results & Webhook)
  const event = JSON.parse(req.body.toString('utf8'))
  if (event.event !== 'intelligence.lens_analysis.completed') return res.status(200).end()

  const { run, result } = event.data
  const recording = event.data.video ?? event.data.audio
  await updateCandidate(recording.userMetadata?.candidateId, {
    summary: run.headline,
    score: result.scorecard?.total ?? null,
    findings: result.findings,
  })
  res.status(200).end()
})

The Results & Webhook page has the full payload, the TypeScript types, and production-ready handlers in Node.js and Python.

Intelligence has no public REST endpoints yet: lenses are managed in the dashboard — or from your AI assistant with the VIDTREO MCP — and results are delivered by webhook. Every analysis can also be reviewed in the dashboard.

Analyzing a Recording Manually

Use manual analysis to test a lens before turning on auto-analyze, to analyze recordings made before the lens was active, or to apply a lens that is not active in the environment.

Open the recording in the dashboard (Video Recording or Audio Recording)

Click Analyze in the analysis bar under the player

Choose the Lens and fill in the optional inputs below. The dialog shows the estimated charge before you confirm

Click Analyze. You can close the window — the analysis keeps running

You can also start from the lens itself with Analyze a recording on the lens page.

InputDefaultWhat it does
Spoken languageSpanish and EnglishLanguage spoken in the recording: Spanish and English (handles either, and both mixed), Spanish, or English. Choosing a single language can improve accuracy when you know it
Question being answeredEmptyThe prompt the recording responds to (up to 2,000 characters). Shown for lenses with a scoring rubric — scoring an answer requires knowing the question. Without it, the analysis only uses a question stated explicitly in the recording
ParticipantsEmptyNames and roles of the people in the recording, e.g. Ana (candidate), Luis (interviewer) (up to 2,000 characters). Improves name recognition and helps tell speakers apart

Automatic analyses always use Spanish and English, with no question and no participants.

Rules worth knowing:

  • The recording must have finished processing: The video is still processing; analyze it once it is ready.
  • Requesting the same lens version again while an analysis of that recording is still in progress returns the in-progress analysis instead of starting — and charging — a second one (unless you provide a question or participants).
  • Analyzing a recording again with the same lens creates a new analysis with its own result, charge, and webhook.
  • Transcripts are reused: when a recording is analyzed by several lenses, it is transcribed once.

How an Analysis Runs

Each analysis moves through these steps, visible live in the dashboard:

StepDashboard labelWhat happensSkipped when
transcriptionTranscript and speakersSpeech is transcribed with word-level timestamps and separated by speakerNever (reused if the recording was already transcribed in the same language)
visionVisual reviewKeyframes are extracted, near-identical frames are skipped, and the rest are reviewed for the lens's visual checksThe lens has no visual checks, or the recording is audio
speakersWho is speakingFrames are used to match on-screen names to voicesSame as vision, or only one person speaks
lensLens analysisThe lens is applied to the transcript and visual observationsNever
reportEvidence checksCitations are validated, scores computed, and the result storedNever

Statuses

StatusMeaning
queuedWaiting to start. Analyses are processed with a concurrency limit, so a burst of recordings may queue briefly
runningIn progress (shown as Analyzing)
completedThe result is available and the webhook is sent to every subscribed endpoint
failedThe analysis stopped. Failed analyses are free and do not send a webhook

Common failure reasons:

MessageCause
The recording has no speech to analyzeThe recording is silent or has no audio track
Not enough credits to analyze this video. Add credits or enable auto-recharge.The balance could not cover the analysis (see Pricing)
The video duration is unknown, so the analysis cannot be priced.The recording has no valid duration
The recording or the lens no longer existsThe recording or lens was deleted before the analysis started
The analysis waited too long to start. Try again.The analysis stayed queued for more than 6 hours
The analysis stopped unexpectedly. Try again.The analysis made no progress for 90 minutes

Restart a failed analysis from the recording page with Try again.

Pricing

Every analysis is charged on its own from your prepaid credits, the same way recordings are.

RecordingPrice per analyzed minute
Video$0.035
Audio$0.025
  • Minutes are rounded up, with a one-minute minimum, based on the recording's duration.
  • Each lens is a separate analysis: a recording analyzed by three lenses is charged three times.
  • Re-analyses are charged in full. Failed analyses are free.
  • Current prices are always shown in Billing → Pricing, under Vidtreo Intelligence.
ExampleCalculationCharge
4 min 55 s video, 1 lens5 min × $0.035$0.175
30 s audio, 1 lens1 min (minimum) × $0.025$0.025
12 min 10 s video, 3 active lenses13 min × $0.035 × 3$1.365

How charging works:

  1. Hold — when an analysis is requested, its price is reserved from your balance. If the balance cannot cover it (after auto-recharge, if enabled), a manual analysis is refused with Not enough credits, and an automatic one is recorded as failed with the reason.
  2. Charge or release — the hold is charged when the analysis completes and released if it fails. Holds still open after 24 hours are released automatically.

Each analysis shows its charge in the dashboard ($X on hold, $X, or Not charged), and charged analyses appear in Billing → Billing history as Intelligence analysis.

Turning on auto-analyze in a busy environment multiplies quickly: recordings per month × average minutes × active lenses × price per minute. Enable auto-recharge in Billing so automatic analyses never fail for lack of credits.

In the Dashboard

Beyond the webhook, every analysis can be reviewed in the dashboard:

  • On the recording page — the analysis bar under the player lists each analysis with its lens, score, status, and charge. The report shows the summary, data points, scorecard, and coverage; the side panel shows Chapters, Transcript, Evidence (play every cited moment as a reel), and Ask to question the recording in natural language, with answers that cite timestamps.
  • On the lens page — Overview, History (compare versions), Where it runs (activations), and Analyzed recordings.
  • Ask your recordings — from Intelligence, ask questions across every analyzed video and audio; answers cite the exact moments and list the recordings consulted.
